Eco Green MOnster Interview

By Interviewer at 06/19/09 14:46

Name of your website?

Eco Green MOnster

Your name?

Jon Carlson

Your Location (city, etc)

Escondido

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We offer eco friendly products and choices for those who want to help make a difference for the future of the environment and earth. Featuring Ecousable's filtered stainless steel water bottles and Vessel Drinkware. Customer satisfaction guaranteed.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To start an online business for income in an area that we had interest. The more research we do, the more insipired we become to continue and suceeed.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is it. 2 Months ago. Eco Green Monster

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Something fun and memorable along with keywords.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

Not a lot at this point. Finding new ways everyday to add to the experience for people that visit. Trying to make it informative and useful while selling products.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it for income and educate others in the process.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Not well at this point. Spending more time on research of how to create, maintain and market a website than finding information and products to offer people.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Hire people to do the website portion so we could spend more time on research of environmental issues and information as well as the many great new products that keep appearing on the market.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Won't really know until we get there. We've managed to get further than most had expected, no reason to believe that we couldn't handle another onslaught.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

So far, only small nagging items we weren't aware of that keep adding up. Hosting fees, gateway fees, credit card fees. Some SEO issuses that were better left for experienced people. The biggest would be the realization that to get found on the internet takes time unless you choose to invest in pay per click or adwords that to us are a risk. As we all know....time is money.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Having to learn everything from the ground up. Working on a limited budget we've had to research and learn everyting from the ground up. Website hosting, how to create a website (HTML,CSS), how to market a website, an much more. Finding new things everyday that need to be addressed. It seems neverending.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Can't truthfully say as yet. Not achieving much success at this point, but hopeful and diligent.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

More work than expected. My hats off to those that have been sucessful, it's a lot of work.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Only 3 months, but will keep trying until the well runs dry, if not it's all been wasted time.

How has your website experience been?

We have gained a great deal of knowledge about the internet and the environment and met many very interesting people, both online and in person. We have accomplished a lot, whether our website is sucessful or not, we can walk away knowing we tried.

What is your website address?
